The Team Canada of TrombonesFriday, August 15, 7:30pm I Tromboni is a dynamic quintet better known as the Team Canada of trombones. Since its formation in 1999, the musicians of this vancouver based ensemble have been breaking down the barriers and stereotypes that have kept the trombone in the back row of the band for far too long. I Tromboni incorporates the music of many genres into their performances with repertoire ranging from baroque to romantic, operatic to jazz and popular to original compositions. They have taken centre stage at some of Canada's most prestigious venues such as the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts in Vancouver, Edmonton's Winspear Centre for Music, Place -des-Arts in Montreal and Ottawa's National Arts Centre. Their critically acclaimed CD there goes the neighbourhood is distinctly Canadian yet enjoys worldwide appeal. The members of I Tromboni are Jim Tranquilla, Neal Bennett, Alexandre Gagnier, Greg Passmore, and Francois Levesque. $24
